Dennis Miller said today that ';when something gets to be over 200 years old, we need to push the reset button';.
Is he right?Dennis Miller thinks we need to push the reset button for the US Constitution?
Well, if you consider how much it's been changed, and going back to the original ideas of the constitution might not be such a bad thing. I love the document, but not so crazy about the abuses of it. And it's been abused by all political parties.Dennis Miller thinks we need to push the reset button for the US Constitution?
Someone needs to push the reset button on Dennis Miller. I used to love his show on HBO, now he's on Bill O'Reilly? WTF?
'; When the Power of Love is as strong as the Love of Power there will be Peace.';
The reset button is already there. It is called amending the Constitution.
I think Dennis Miller needs to push the reset button on his career again.
He's been a ban comedian, bad football broadcaster and is now a bad political commentator. He needs to find out what other things he can be bad at.
Yes
there has been so much reinterpreting going on, that we are starting to get into a tangled web of laws and bureaucracy, a web that most certainly makes it easy to get tangled in.
Our government could make laws right under our noses to do anything it wants, and most people would never know the laws existed, until the rights they used to have, where being violated. Time to hit the reset button, and roll things back to what our country was intended to be...Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.....not Land of redefined slavery.

Not a bad idea. There is pro bally so much garbage that has been added to it that we should start fresh, with fresh debate.
admendment #1, no lobbyist.
Maybe we need to push the reset button on the human race or planet earth then.
Not that I agree with Dennis Miller (I think he's a neo-con), BUT.... If he means the 'reset button', yes, he's right.. I'll explain why.
We need to return to the constitution in it's strict sense of the original, and boot out all the crap that has accumulated on top of it.
Things like.. the 16th amendment, for example, should be repealed.

Progressive Taxation is part of the Communist reforms in the Communist Manifesto. Founders would be fuming if they knew that this communist leech would be attached to the constitution and suck it's host dry.

Also, the Federal Reserve Act should be repealed, because it is part of the Communist reforms.

The Federal Reserve Bank is a communist idea of a national bank, aka., a central bank.

President Andrew Jackson tried to kill it, but it rose from the dead and it is now haunting us with inflation.
absolutely. get back to basics. reform EVERYTHING
Vote Ron Paul for REAL change!
I used to like the guy. I stopped watching him years ago. If it is true that he said that, he has gone from bad to dangerous.
If we mean go back and respect the constitution for what it really means (i.e. the freedom of speech does not include smoking marijuana)
probably...
I would think a tougher law board exam and a limitation on the amount of them we allow to graduate and enter into the economy would be a great start
I'll have to disagree with him.
The Constitution is supposed to be the binding contract between the two entities surrendering some limited powers - the people and the states - and the federal government created by the Constitution, which received those limited powers.
The concept behind it being a binding contract is quite demonstrably shown by the significant effort that is needed to amend the document. Changes which give government increased power over our lives should always require a significant effort to achieve, and should always go to the people for a vote.
And I fail to see what needs to be updated or what needs annual adjustments.
No. If he thinks there should be a new constitutional convention, that's one thing. But binding contracts like the Constitution should not be subject of whimsical changes based on popular fads.
The constitution outlines for this nation what our freedoms are and the protections against the all consuming state that would seek to control every aspect of your life .
Reset is right .
Remove every single law written since 1801 and follow the rules as set forth in the constitution .
Since much of whats been passed as i see it has been unconstitutional in nature .
The entire patriot act is a violation of at least 3 if not 7 of our most basic rights granted in the bill of rights .
NO! The Constitution is the only thing holding liberals back. I understand what he's saying and his thinking. It's been 200 years. Societies change, technology advances, maybe we should create a new Constitution that accommodates today's views, values and technologies. But the beauty and genius of the Constitution is that it's timeless. It's not encumbered with the complexities of today's issues. It remains firmly grounded in the basic tenants of human rights and the limitations of government. Rights and limitations that liberals in America do not understand or appreciate.
Yes he is correct. Although it may seem abrupt, if we do not ';reset'; politics in America, the US Constitution will soon become obsolete.
Dennis Miller was never and could never be a funny comedian. (Short, ugly and stupid is no way to go through life.) When did we allow this moron to direct political thought?
Dennis should stick to what he knows best
